Oil Cleansing is the cornerstone of the Blinking Owl Acres Holistic Skin Care Routine. Using an oil blend to wash your face is a nourishing practice, providing deep cleansing in a balanced and gentle way.

We know that for those not converted yet, oil cleansing still sounds a bit strange. But here’s the bottom line – oil attracts oil. This is hands down the most gentle and holistic way to cleanse your face. If you have questions, contact us! We are here to support you.

All of us have oil (sebum) on our skin. Whether we are oily types, dry types, or any skin type in between, we all have oil on our skin and it is there to protect and moisturize. Our skin’s oil degrades during exposure to sun and pollution. It also gathers dead skin cells and dirt. This is why we want to clean our faces daily.
When we massage an oil into dry skin, we are attracting and dissolving the oil on our skin (Oil attracts oil! Water repels oil!). This loosens up any debris that we want to pull from our pores. Sounds simple, but this is so much harder to achieve with water based cleansers!

How to Oil Cleanse
1. Pump a few squirts of oil cleanse into palm. ⁠
2. Massage oil into dry face using gentle circular motions. *Bonus* If time allows, get into some deeper face massage: smooth out furrows, rub stress out of eyebrows, get down to the neck and décolleté. ⁠
3. Soak a soft washcloth in hot water, then wring it out leaving the washcloth damp (not dripping wet) and hot. ⁠
4. Place over face and let it steam for a moment, or until washcloth cools. ⁠
5. Gently remove oil from face with the washcloth, using a gentle pulling/wiping motion.
6. Rinse washcloth and you could steam and wipe once more. ⁠
7. Face will feel clean, balanced, and hydrated when done. If done correctly, you should not feel any slick oiliness on skin. ⁠
8. Follow cleanse by moisturizing immediately to lock in the hydration from the steaming.
